Art Locatia

Locatia is a progressive web application (PWA) that allows people to view, buy, and sell geolocated digital art through Augmented Reality (AR).

Quick Start​

Locatia is a PWA, which means it's a website that you can install on your phone by adding it to your home screen. You can also install it on your desktop/laptop.

Mobile Device​

To download to a mobile device, go to https://art.locatia.app. Find the add to homescreen button and the app will install on your phone!

Desktop/Laptop​

To download to desktop/Laptop, go to https://art.locatia.app. Find the install button on the right side of the search bar. Click install and the app will be installed on your computer.

How to Use​

Once you have installed the application on your mobile device, you can open the app to go and see art.

The navigation bar contains three buttons: home, dropped art, and your art.

  • Home: You can see and navigate to the featured art collection.
  • Dropped Art: See and navigate to art that has been dropped.
  • Your Art: See the art that you have collected, create drop listings to sell art, and view your current drop listings.

You Found Art​

If you are within 15 meters of the art, the "AR" and "Buy" buttons will be activated! Sometimes you will need to refresh the page to activate.

  • Click on the "AR" button to view the art in AR.
  • Click on the "Buy" button to purchase the art in MATIC currency.

Anatomy of a Drop​

When you drop art, you are creating a listing on the Locatia marketplace. The listing contains the following information. Note - plus codes are used to address any location on earth.

For Artists​

Locatia is a platform for artists to create and sell geolocated digital art. To get started, you will need to create a wallet. Locatia uses Metamask to create wallets. Metamask is a browser extension that allows you to interact with the Polygon blockchain. You can download Metamask here. Never give your seed phrase to anyone!

Prepare Your Art​

It is recommended that you use the testnet site mumbai.locatia.app to learn this process. Follow the tutorials to generate art for AR, prepare your artwork, and launch your collection.

Metadata Structure​

The metadata structure is a JSON file that contains information about your art and is critical to AR object rendering and initial geolocation.

Apply to be Listed​

Once you have created your art and tested artwork on the testnet, you can apply to be listed on Locatia. Please fill out this form.

Advanced​

Locatia is built on the Polygon blockchain. Polygon is a layer 2 solution for Ethereum. You can list either ERC721 or ERC1155 on the Locatia app. Here are the testnet and mainnet contracts:
